Kill Sector: Chemicals, Candles, And Catapults Playtest Document

   This is an experimental playtest document – the functions listed within are not yet finalized. The goal is for Kill Sector players and GM’s from around the world to try these out on their characters and in their gauntlets, in order to see if they’re not only balanced, but also fun to use.
   This book features functions revolving around three concepts: chemical weapons, candle magic, and catapults. Chemical weapons are super-potent biochemicals that affect anyone that breathes them in, injects them, or otherwise has them introduced into the body; you define your chemical weapon by choosing a specific chemical and then a specific way to distribute said chemical, with over a hundred combinations between choosing your chemical and distribution method. Candle magic is a complex set of magical functions, which you can use to stake out areas of the map and alter the rules within those spaces; they can let you do anything from healing to increasing accuracy of certain weapons to changing how damage works to altering the very means of motion within those spaces. Catapults are massive warmachines of the ancient world that let you fling game-changing payloads across the map; the default catapult comes with boulders, but these boulders can be swapped out for one of over a dozen alternate specialized payloads – anything from the Arctic Shard that changes the battlefield to a frozen hellscape, to the Infiltrator Capsule, which lets you launch one of your buddies deep into enemy territory in a hollowed-out cannonball.
   All three of these categories have a very specific set of mechanics with deep customization options; exactly the kind of thing that is best playtested en masse, with people bringing their different perspectives to use and combine these functions in ways we never would have anticipated.
