From time to time, these forces are hijacked by those with knowledge of magick, reencoding the information that permeates human minds and the laws of reality for the betterment of some – at the expense of all others.
When this happens, Witch Doctors are compelled – through some drive that they hardly understand – to step apart from the mundane lives they lead, examine the mess in magick’s wake, and discover the source of the destruction.

WITCH DOCTORS is a modern fantasy tabletop roleplaying game in which Players will create their own Witch Doctors and dive into Mysteries at the heart of pain and suffering that others have no rationale or ability to pursue. Leveraging their wits, their resources, and their innate understanding of magick’s grimoire, they will follow the clues and ultimately identify the source of the trouble. Whether they can set it right is a question; whether they end it is another. For magick in the world of WITCH DOCTORS often leaves no easy exits.
Contained in this download is the public Playtest Edition of the WITCH DOCTORS Tabletop RPG. Within its pages, you will learn how to portray a Witch Doctor as a Player, as well as how to build Mysteries in the role of Guide. The interplay between these two roles is explored quite heavily as well, providing concepts and themes that enable all participants to manage the game’s mechanics and evolving fiction with relative ease.
WITCH DOCTORS operates on a new system called Witchcraft, an unholy love-child of our own Aperture System and the Apocalypse System by Vincent & Meguey Baker… with a dash of GUMSHOE by Robin Laws thrown in as well.
