Torg Book of the Darkness

Publisher: Ulisses SpieleOne of the more tempting items of loot for any aspiring mage is the spell books of their opponents. These spell books are usually personal, copied out by hand, because one of the most common traits of mages that turn to the path of Darkness is that they are selfish to the extreme, not even sharing their most powerful secrets even with their apprentices.
There is an active trade in such ‘evil’ spell books as they are secrets that are not taught in the academies or schools of magic.  Here is one such book that a GM can drop onto any haul of treasure, confident that someone will be tempted by the spells within. Many of these spells would cost a character a Dark Mark if they used them, some might even cost a Dark mark to learn them. Every mage would agree that knowledge is power but the pursuit of some knowledge can lead a sorcerer down a very dark road indeed. Perhaps one of the most terrible curses inflicted on magicians is ‘May you get what you desire’.
All the spells provided here are selections suitable for inclusion in a spell book for a ‘typical’ Ayslish evil mage and have been converted from spells provided in Pixaud’s Practical Grimoire, available on DrivethruRPG from Ulisses Spiele.
NB: there is no concept amongst these spells of a ‘suitable power level’ for players to have. Few mages, especially those who turn to the Darkness, would ever consider any spell to be ‘too powerful’. Tempting a player with such a book can be a fun exercise for the GM and even if the character resists the temptation, there are always many, many others who would be very happy to target the PCs in order to steal such a book.Price: $5.23
