Official Handbook of the Amazing Universe: Paramentals (Super-Powered by M&M)

Publisher: LPJ DesignBritish Prime Minister William Pitt once declared, “Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it.” Although Lord Pitt didn’t have superhuman powers in mind when he gave this speech, his words nonetheless apply to some individuals who’ve acquired such abilities. For reasons still unclear, a number of people that develop superhuman abilities, whether through genetics or by other means, suffer from heightened feelings of bitterness, entitlement, and aggression. In some cases, acquisition of powers or realization of their existence leads to drastic personality shifts. The limited research performed to date has failed to determine the underlying reasons for such radical personality changes.
One of the more infamous cases of a person’s temperament changing after gaining superhuman powers involves Quinn Kesin, a theoretical meteorologist. A terrorist attack at the research park where Dr. Kesin worked resulted in the destruction of his lab. In the wake of a catastrophic explosion, he developed the power to create and manipulate storms. He escaped from the hospital and gained notoriety as Tempest, a powerful and destructive criminal driven by his own twisted code of honor. Tempest has since become leader of a group of super-criminals with powers similar in theme to his, the Paramentals.
