In 2005, Green Ronin planned to release a setting-free version of the D20 system they called True20. They held a setting design contest to showcase the versitility of the system, and Mecha vs Kaiju was chosen to be one of the settings found in the core rulebook. I was ecstatic! This book is the result of that opportunity. In those pre-online sales days, not much came of this first edition of MvK, but in just a few years the combination of DriveThruRPG and the increased popularity of giant monsters and robots brought it back in style.
