Dungeon Master’s Adventure Pack Issue 01

Publisher: The Grinning FrogDungeon Master’s Adventure Pack Issue One – City Theme
Welcome to the first issue of a new monthly digital system-neutral Fantasy RPG Magazine stuffed full of exciting new content!
Successfully launched via Kickstarter this is the first public issue and we are very excited to share it with you.
Why? Because we’re like you – we love RPGs. We love both the creative experience of adventure writing and the collaborative theatre at the game table. We’ve also played a lot, so we know the biggest challenge a DM faces is preparation time! And, just as all characters are better equipped when they have a bag of holding, a potion of healing and a sunrod, a DM is better equipped when supplied with a steady stream of new material and ideas. And that’s what we have for you here. Each month we bring you, in one tidy, illustrated PDF, system-neutral Fantasy RPG material in the following categories:
DM Advice
Festivals
Locations
Creatures
Magic Items
Non-Player Characters
Non-Player Character Organisations
Story Hooks
Things to See
Random Encounters
Trinkets and Treasures
Our inspiration goes back to the early years of White Dwarf, Dragon and Dungeon Magazines as well as other less well-known titles like Ares and Level-Up.We aim to honour their tradition and deliver practical, useful and imaginative content to your inbox once a month, every month.
Monthly ThemeEach month will have a broad theme that will tie together the different categories of content. This was something that was introduced as we developed the magazine. Originally, we wondered if the themes might be limiting, but actually we have found they are a strength. The themes help focus the writing, resulting in more nuanced, detailed and cohesive content. Also, if the theme that month doesn’t match your current game, you either have material for future campaigns, or you can easily convert the NPCs, magic items, locations etc. by removing the theme elements. For example: take the Desert Tomb from the desert-themed issue – swap the sand and sun references for snow and ice, and you’ve got an Ice Tomb ready to fit into your arctic adventures!(And make the gods mentioned in the tomb ice and snow gods etc., but you get the idea!)
Why System-Neutral?Because we personally play multiple games and systems, and so do virtually all the DMs and GMs that we know. By making it system-neutral, we can focus on strong storytelling without getting hung up on the mechanics and conversions across game systems. And, let’s face it – if we featured even just the top three fantasy RPGs, that would leave out a whole bunch of others. So, we are embracing them all with clever, interesting, story-rich material that people can easily convert to their desired system. We have been developing the DMAP format for over three years, and we are confident that you will find it entertaining and useful, regardless of the fantasy RPG system you use.
Professionally Edited
Our editor is Jane Spencer, a qualified editor and proofreader with over two decades of editing, publishing and literary project management experience. (She’s also an RPG gamer and a lovely person!) And last, but not least, we are ably assisted by a number of player testers, content providers and technical advisers.
100% Guarantee
We have every confidence that any fantasy RPG fan reading the magazine will find it both entertaining and useful. However, if we’ve gotten that wrong, if you find that it is neither entertaining nor useful – then we will give you your money back without any fuss, argument or hassle.
You can’t say fairer than that can you?
