100 Snow and Ice Encounters

This supplement has 100 different encounters for cold locations. Some are potentially useful, some are potentially dangerous and some are just puzzling. They can be used as a source of adventure hooks in some cases, or simply be background colour to encounter whilst travelling.This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.Here are some sample results:
Huge, clawed footprints, each at least a dozen feet across, mark the snow and disappear into the distance.
In the middle distance a pack of grey wolves is shadowing the party. There are at least a dozen wolves and the leader of the pack appears to be twice the size of the next nearest wolf. The leader is a werewolf and the pack under his leadership is far more likely to attack than otherwise, and will also attack when characters are most vulnerable, such as at night.
Large chunks of ice fall from the side of a glacier as it is passed, shattering on the ground below and sending sharp splinters of ice in all directions. Those closest to the glacier will need to avoid the falling ice and the splinters or suffer injury.
Lines and curves cut into the snow can be seen to be shallow trenches that were filled with water, which then froze, after they were created. From above, it can be seen that the lines form what appears to be a large summoning circle, 100’ across.
Long, shallow tracks of what may be runners or perhaps skis are gradually filling with blowing snow. Given the rate of snowfall, the tracks can only be a few hours old at most.
