This is a rules supplement that allows you to play Eldritch Tales without a Game Master. The rules pick out the suggested optional rules from within Eldritch Tales that best suit solo play, and then add in randomised plot hooks, question and answer rules and some unique game mechanics to help bring some of the mystery of the classic Lovercraftian investigation.
These rules are an extention of my best selling OSR solo rules but introduce several key modifications to those rules light solo rules.
The ‘oncoming horror’ mechanic introduces a way to moderate how and when the dark forces will come after you, when you know too much or are too dangerous.
I have integrated the insanity system to make it more playable, for a solo character.
